FoC Necros
Just a question: Why aren't FoC necros popular? I mean, most people expect MMs and SSs, but I think FoC is a completely valid elite to run.
Normally Melee Units mob, so shadow of fear -> FoC is 120 armor ignoring damage, plus the output of the melee is down. Add in Desecrate and Defile Enchants and that's anoter 140 or so armor ignoring damage.
I useually use:
Parasitic Bond
Shadow of Fear
Feast of Corruption
Desecrate Enchants
Defile Enchants
Signet of Lost Souls
(something else that could be useful)
Res Sig
Does anyone have any variations they like to use?

It got nerfed hard and it's AoE/Recharge are fairly poor now compared to other elites.

When I first capped FoC I tried it out extensively but never got a working flow with it. I admit I did use a wiki build instead of building my own, it was a N/Me FoC spiker. Every so often I look at the spell and think I should be able to do more with it. For the moment though, it's abandoned.

Here is what I've used before the new up-date:
Suffering
Arcane Echo
Feast Of Corruption (e)
Parasitic Bond
Desecrate Enchantments
Defile Enchantments/Inspired Hex
Signet Of Lost Souls
Rez Signet
I haven't played my necro after the up-date, so I don't know how good this would be.

I don't see the problem with FoC really.
Assume you hit one target for the 120+ dmg. That's what, 4 procs of SS? That's 7 or so seconds, hoping that it gets to proc that many times? Why not jsut spike the enemy and have it over with?
I feel like FoC could have a recharge of 15 an be a lot more attractive though, to put it on a cycle with Defile/Desecrate.
With a low-recharge and fairly cheap cost, Shadow of fear is pretty much the best thing for a hex, I think. Assuming you're targetting Melee with the build, which in PvE is pretty often since they A)Cluster and B) Recieve the most dmg relative to having the armor-ignoring abilities. It's pretty nice. I useually hit 3 people with it. I wonder I I could handle AEcho-ing it. I suppose it's worth a try.

When using FoC, you should use ele water magic skills that slow down groups of enemies(Ice Spikes and Deep Freeze for example). This means that they cant flee and more enemies will be caught in the ensuing chaos.Although some ele snaring skills have quite a high energy cost, the energy you gain from Soul Reaping should easily balance your energy back out.

I don't think many people have FoC for an Elite. It is probably one of the hardest Elites to capture. Took me ages with Henchman with 60% dp. Had to take enemies down one at a time by suicide attacks >.<

a couple of reasons. the spike is nice, but the dmg output is outclassed by a couple of well placed SS's in pve. your damage over time just isnt enough. plus most mobs should be dead before you even get a chance to drop another FoC.
and some people feel that its a hard elite to cap. the trip can be long, but its actually not that difficult of a journey. if you start from warcamp, you are already half way through snake dance, which is the long part of the trip.

Well, let's say that you use FoC for 140 dmg on 3 people (420dmg). In order for SS to catch up, it'd have to proc 5 times (450 dmg). This 5 procs takes, useually at it's quickest, 7 seconds to get out there. This is conditional that the enemy attacks. At 10 seconds, the enemies there are probably already dead. So you need to recast on another group. The functionality of FoC and SS seem to be roughly the same, except SS is shakey on it's damage output sometimes., as it's conditional. FoC does a spike damage, which can be more efficient towards killing a mob quickly.
Overall, after looking at the number, I feel like FoC should have a shortened recharge, once again, to line it up with desecrate and defile enchants. Currently the recharge just feels too long. I think that a 10s recharge woudl be too much, since the spike would be abused in PvP (even if it is easily interrupted...)
Ultimately, FoC and SS have their uses. SS wins in battles that are drawn out for long periods of time. FoC is still a spike skill. If I had to run 2 necros, I'd probably have one SS and one FoC, but if I had one, I'd probably still just run SS.
After the SS buff, I'm hoping to see something similar to FoC. Please.

Everyone has forgotten FoC, which means FoC will never see another skill balance.
That's what a-net seems to do, nerf something hard enough for people to lose interest in it, then forgetting it existed.
You know, like the necromancer.
